A Word About A Few Services

Special Needs

The team at Butcher Elder Law works to provide resources for those with special needs and understands that families would like to have a plan of action in place to care for their loved ones. It is essential to coordinate all legal, financial and special needs care for children with disabilities, now and in the future. Sam can assist you through the process and help you explore options for public assistance benefits for individuals with disabilities. These benefits may include Medicaid, Medicaid Home and more.

Veterans Benefits

Suppose you or your spouse are a veteran who served at least 90 days of active service, one day during wartime, such as in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War and other conflicts. In that case, you may be eligible for monthly benefits of up to $2,054.00 to help pay medical expenses. If you are a veteran’s surviving spouse, you may qualify for monthly benefits of up to $1,114.00. These benefits do not require being in a nursing home or long-term care facility.

Medicaid Planning And Qualification

Medicaid planning involves some difficult conversations around the possibility of you, your spouse, or your loved ones needing long-term care in an assisted living facility. It is vital to plan and map out how you could become eligible for Medicaid to cover the high cost of that type of care. The Medicaid system is a maze of complex rules and notable exceptions that are unique and inconsistent with other areas of the law. The application process can be overwhelming for the family member assisting the Medicaid process.

Comprehensive Estate Planning

Attorney Sam Butcher counsels clients on the identification, design and execution of individual client estate plans. His comprehensive estate planning services include handling all matters regarding financial powers of attorney, health care powers of attorney, living wills, wills, and revocable and irrevocable living trusts. Creating an estate plan or updating an existing one is essential for everyone and is not limited to old folks with multiple real estate holdings. Sam helps the young, old and everyone from all walks of life. He can even help you create or update an estate plan to incorporate caring for your precious pets if you suddenly become incapacitated after you are gone.

Asset Protection

Asset protection planning can help you safeguard your home, savings accounts, and other valuable assets that could be subject to lawsuits, government overreach, long-term care institutions, divorce, bankruptcy, and other circumstances. There are two components to consider in asset protection planning. The first is to consider what types of protection you will need while you are alive if you are suddenly incapacitated, disabled or become incompetent. Second, consider safeguarding your assets for distribution according to your wishes after your death.
